CEO books to read (Top 3)
Drive business growth
Hey Sprinters. This is for the CEO of you, the ones who drive business growth, run a business and have these sleepless nights when running a business. Oh my God. So many moving parts. Which one do I fix? First? I have three books for you that help me as a business owner, stay focused and fix one thing after the other. And I'm gonna share them in this video with you. So let's go.
The first book is about how you test before you build, because you don't build and spend time and spend money if you don't have validated hypothesis first. So the first book is about how you test your hypothesis before you spend money. The second one is understanding systems because your business is not a bunch of people. It's a system, people go in and out of systems and fulfill roles, energize roles. So you have to understand systems first and then people. So the second one is about systems. And the third one is understand that your business can be a vehicle for magic if you know how to do it. So let's go with book number one,
It's by Jake snap and it's called sprint. And it's a beautiful book. It's really not so much for CEOs. It's more for product tips, but if you are a very small business, chances are you are the marketing department, the sales department and the operations department and the management of the company. So it's a good book. It's very practical. Look, we use this every day and every week to moderate the making processes for our clients. It's really cool. It's, it's, it's done with much love. It's full of drafts that help you see things. And it's very practical. That's why I use it all the time. When we think of, Hey, should we start this product or disservice? Hmm. Where am I before we spend any time or money, let's do a quick product sprint first. And if it wins, then we will spend some time on money, more than three days and a hundred bucks. So that's the first book. The second thing you have to solve as a CEO is how do we understand systems? Not people, because if you treat businesses like a bunch of people, it's wrong, you have to understand systems first. And if you go so over,
I hate it.
It's not about being technical about being it. A system is something very specific and I will teach you what a system is after one word from our sponsors. The second book is about systems and how you understand them. The grammar of systems from order to CAS and back by Patrick over start. Patrick is a friend of us, a client, a colleague of us. We have done work together on strategy and on systems. And he has put together a great book that is about really introductory to systems, but also for the advanced systems people. It's a really good book. For example, what is a network effect? What is the causality effect? How much requisite redundancy do you need in a system? What makes a system really resilient? Because it, the viability of a system, how do you assess that? How you E system that is responsive and adaptable and resilient. That's a really good book in order to understand systems, because if you don't understand assess the systems, you will have a ton of problems with people because you will try to understand people.
And a business is not people. A business is a system with the purpose. The purpose of, of a system is brought to you will, you will find it here. And and then the system creates roles and those roles suck people in and spit people out when that role is, is done. So you have to understand systems first because you know, beginners in business, you see them be, cause when a business goes really well, they think they're a hero. They think that it's about them. It's not it's the system and the role. And when the, when the business goes bad, they think they're, they are it's their fault. And it's also not their fault. It's the system. And it's the role to understand that you have to study systems, and this is a good start. Then we have number three, a book that I really love.
