🗺️ The 5-Step Messaging Quest

Sprint Club Quick Win #2 — The 5-Step Messaging Quest

The 5-Step Messaging Quest

What you'll get: A complete messaging kit — ICP definition, validated pain points, reframed offer, proof bank, and a battle-tested one-liner. Everything you need to fill a pipeline with the right people.

  • Time: 2-3 hours (do one step per day or knock them all out in one session)
  • Prerequisite: Complete the Positioning Diagnostic first (Quick Win #1)

The 5 Steps

Each step is a Claude prompt. Run them in order — each builds on the last. Save every output.

Step 1: ICP Lock (30 min)

Goal: Define exactly who you serve in 3 tiers to stop wasting time on wrong-fit prospects.

Copy/Paste Prompt into Claude:

You are a B2B customer strategist. Help me build a 3-tier ICP (Ideal Customer Profile) based on my actual client history — not theory.

Ask me these questions one at a time:

  1. Describe your 3 best clients ever. (Company size, industry, buyer title, results?)
  2. Describe your 3 worst clients. What made them terrible?
  3. What is the minimum company revenue where your service actually makes sense?
  4. What industries or company types do you refuse to work with?
  5. Who actually signs the check? (CEO, VP Sales, CFO, etc.?)

After all 5 answers, build my ICP:

  • TIER 1 — SWEET SPOT: (Best results, easiest to close)
  • TIER 2 — GOOD FIT: (Solid clients, worth pursuing)
  • TIER 3 — OPPORTUNISTIC: (Take if they come, don't pursue)
  • HARD DISQUALIFIERS: (Never take these)
  • ONE-LINE ICP SUMMARY: "[Title] at a [size] [industry] company that [key trait]"

Step 2: Pain Stack (30 min)

Goal: Discover the 5 real pains your ICP has that actually trigger buying decisions.

Copy/Paste Prompt into Claude:

You are a buyer psychology expert. Help me uncover the real pains my ideal clients have.

Context: My ICP is [PASTE YOUR TIER 1 ICP FROM STEP 1]

Ask me these questions one at a time:

  1. For the last 3 clients who said YES fast, what was the specific trigger event in their business?
  2. What exact words do prospects use to describe their problem on a first call? (Give 3 quotes).
  3. What have they already tried that failed before coming to you?
  4. What is the COST of not solving this in the next 6 months?
  5. What is the emotional state of your buyer when they first reach out?

After all answers, give me:

  • THE 5 REAL PAINS: (Ranked by urgency, including triggers and cost of inaction)
  • THE GAP: What I’m currently saying vs. what they actually need to hear.
  • 3 PAIN-BASED HOOKS: Opening lines for outreach or LinkedIn.

Step 3: Offer Reframe (30 min)

Goal: Rewrite your offer around outcomes and transformation, not deliverables and features.

Copy/Paste Prompt into Claude:

You are an offer strategist. Rewrite my current offer to be irresistible to my ICP.

My ICP: [PASTE TIER 1 FROM STEP 1]

Their top pains: [PASTE TOP 3 PAINS FROM STEP 2]

Current Description: [PASTE YOUR CURRENT OFFER DESCRIPTION]

Rewrite it using these rules:

  1. Lead with the OUTCOME, not the process.
  2. Add a TIMEFRAME.
  3. Add SPECIFICITY (concrete deliverables).
  4. Add CONTRAST ("Instead of [X], you'll [Y]").
  5. Remove all jargon.

Provide:

  • One-paragraph offer description
  • One-sentence pitch
  • Three bullet points for landing pages
  • The "Instead of" statement

Step 4: Proof Inventory (20 min)

Goal: Organize every piece of proof you have into a bank you can drop into any pitch.

Copy/Paste Prompt into Claude:

You are a proof strategist. Help me build a proof bank organized by impact.

Ask me these questions one at a time:

  1. What are your 3 biggest measurable results? (%, $, or time saved)
  2. List any testimonials or direct quotes you remember.
  3. What notable brands or people have you worked with?
  4. What credentials or media appearances do you have?
  5. What is the total scope of your experience? (Years, projects, etc.)

Build my proof bank:

  • TIER 1 PROOF: (Lead with these)
  • TIER 2 PROOF: (Support claims)
  • TIER 3 PROOF: (Background credibility)
  • PROOF GAPS: What am I missing?
  • 3 PROOF-LOADED SENTENCES: For cold emails or proposals.

Step 5: The One-Liner (15 min)

Goal: Synthesize everything into one sentence that makes your ICP say "that's exactly what I need."

Copy/Paste Prompt into Claude:

You are a messaging strategist. Synthesize the previous 4 steps into my definitive messaging kit.

Data: [PASTE SUMMARIES FROM STEPS 1-4]

Create:

  • THE ONE-LINER: "I help [ICP] achieve [outcome] in [timeframe] — [proof point]." (Max 25 words).
  • 5 VERSIONS: Rank them and tell me which one to bet on.
  • LINKEDIN HEADLINE: (120 chars max).
  • EMAIL SIGNATURE LINE.
  • ELEVATOR PITCH: (30 seconds, conversational).
  • THE ACID TEST: Could a competitor copy this? (If yes, revise).

After You Complete All 5 Steps

  • Update LinkedIn: Use the new headline and one-liner.
  • Post in Sprint Club: Tag Simon for feedback on your one-liner.
  • Test Outreach: Use your pain-based hooks in your next 5 messages.
