[1:11] You can observe somebody and try to understand what they're saying, and in the case of an organization, you can have what's called organizational empathy.

[2:13] When was the last time you spent half a day sitting besides your customer services agents?

[3:08] Putting empathy into the organization is showing the behavior you want to see replicated without.

[5:30] The idea is to find a way, everyday, to lean in, to listen.

[6:06] As much as we want to be about efficiency and effectiveness having that time to pause, have a really deep conversation, it give you back energy.

[7:28] Empathy in business is about understanding. And I tend to focus on the notion of cognitive understanding rather than feelings.

[8:29] You can use empathy in an organization just to understand better your employees. Do you care about what your employees are really experiencing?

[10:19] What can we do to not fix things? To not obstruct?

[11:16] The other person might not be needing help, they might just be needing to be listened to. One of the biggest challenges we have in the entire society is that we do not feel like we're being heard.
